Jazmine Sullivan
Jazmine was raised and born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam her mom was a former backup singer for Philadelphia International Records. In the year she turned 5 old, her father landed in the role of curator at The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family moved into the historical landmark. She is a 2005 graduate of Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts where she was the vocal music instructor. Sullivan had a role as contralto singer for the youth choir, and a few more years later was a part of the adult choir. Sullivan's exposure to secular music was initially limited "I performed solos at church and someone wanted me to sign to gospel labels when I had turned eleven, however I wasn't ready to do that," she recalls. Then, McDonald's held a contest that was open to children living in cities. I was selected to sing "Accept What God Allows" at It's Showtime At the Apollo. And the crowd responded very well. She performed alongside Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday in the year thirteen. Sullivan was initially signed to Jive Records at the age 15. The label initially signed Sullivan to Jive Records at the age fifteen. She recorded an entire album. However, this album was never released. Sullivan was later removed from the record label. Missy Elliott was her producer for some tracks from the album she released her debut. The most notable of these was "Backstabbers" of Timbaland and Timbaland, which Elliott wrote, was a hit.
